MGR Music School Students
Are 'steppin out' !
Louisville is blessed to have as part of its Magnet High School System what is called the Youth Performing Arts High School, also known as YPAS. This highly competitive High School level program specializes in music performance during the high school years.
Currently we have several of our MusicGoRound Louisville Music School students that have been accepted to this program.
They are Jordan Rose on trumpet and Tess Collins on piano.
They are both coached by the same teacher, Wade Honey,a U of L graduate.
Our clarinet student, Allyson Sanders, was accepted and offered scholarships at both Western KY University (WKU) and Belmont College in TN. She is strongly leaning toward attending WKU at this point.
Her teacher is Ernie Gross, a clarinetist with the Louisville Orchestra.
Another student, John Brodie, takes bass instruction from Tyrone Wheeler and has just received notification of his acceptance into the University of Louisville's Music School.
Congratulations to these students and their teachers for their perseverance. It pays to practice!
Music Go Round To Offer Kindermusik !
This is a five week program for 4-7 year olds that meets once a week for an hour on Thurs. from 11-12. It introduces note reading, rhythm and movement using hand-held percussion and story-telling. Call Linda at 502-491-9516 for rates and reservations.
Learn to Play In a Combo This Summer !
This class will be open to anyone currently taking private lessons. The sessions will focus on teaching students how to play music with others in a Combo (usually consisting of bass, guitar and drums), how to improvise in a Combo and of course how to socialize.
This is a one hour class that will meet for 10 weeks scheduled on Saturdays. Call Linda at 502-491-9516 for rates and reservations.
Our first year in our new store ended with a Recital and celebration of music on Dec.20th by 40 of our 150 students. Rock, classical, pop, solo, duet and accompanied sounds filled our store. See just some of the fun the students had and still are having this year –bringing music into their lives and the lives of those around them.
